The Most Important Thing; Your Heart

The Most Important Thing In Life Is Your Heart

How are you doing today? I would love to hear your answer right now. Most people respond to a question like this with how their circumstances are or with something about their job. But my question to you today is though “How are you doing on the inside of you; in your heart?”

It doesn’t matter if you operate the biggest business in the world; the most important thing in life is your heart. Keeping your spirit (your heart) full of the Word of God is the most vital responsibility you have. A heart full of the Word makes everything else come out right. So give God and His Word first place in your heart.

Make sure you seek God first (Matthew 6:33). Don’t let anything else be first in your life above God. Don’t even let something else be on the same level as God. I am not just talking about things that are sin. You have to demand everything in your life to come under the dominion of God and His Word – even necessary things, such as your career. Refuse to let your heart be overcome by anything.

I have found that the best thing I can do to keep God first in my heart to spend time fellowshipping with Him every morning before I do anything else. Making that a habit has helped me keep my heart from becoming cluttered with anything that could take over my time and attention. I’ve learned that it helps keep your priorities in order and your life in agreement with God’s desires for you which is always the highest and the best possible.

It’s important that you make a quality decision to spend time with God, because it is easy to spend your time on other things and lose your desire for the Word of God. As you begin to focus your time and attention on the new project or activity, your regular time spent in the Word falls off, and your desire for the things of God drains away.

I want to avoid that to happen in my life at all cost, so every day I spend time with God in prayer. I don’t spend time in the Word every morning, though that is my preference. But I do start my day fellowshipping with the Lord. That morning time with the Father has really changed me and I mean that literally. I am so different spiritually now from what I was. Some people say, “Well, you don’t really need to do that. You don’t have to be under bondage.”

Listen, I am not under bondage. I have a free will, I engage my will because I made a choice to engage my will to have fellowship with my heavenly Father. I love the Father, He loves me more than I love Him..it is an easy choice for me to spend time with somebody who loves me unconditionally no matter what I have done.

Right now I am standing for a decision to work on a project. First I want to make sure this is in God’s plan and I want to be sure that the project will not clutter up my heart. I don’t want to get pulled away from honoring God first with my time and attention. I make up my mind when I decide to go on with the project; I am not going to get carried away with this project and spend more time on it than I should.

It might slow down the project, but I made up my mind that it cannot have first place in my heart. I will not give myself to anything in this life except the Lord! Your desire follows your attention. Wherever you give your attention is where your desire will be. As you keep your heart turned toward God, your desire will stay turned toward Him as well.

If you think you don’t have the love for God that you should, give Him more attention. So make a choice to keep your heart centered on God. Don’t let anything else take over your thought life and usurp His place in your heart. A life tightly centered on Him is the only one worth living!

Pro 4:23 Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life (Amplified)

Are you guarding your heart with all diligence? What have you set in place in your own life to give God first place in your life?
