Everybody knows some teenager that is battling acne and we all know how painful it can be for the boys and girls and would do anything to help them, isn’t it? I have known a young man who was called “Red Nose Reindeer” because of his red nose that was swollen because of the inflammation in his nose. He was treated with heavy medication, but it was not gone all the way.
So, I gave the lemon oil to his mother. Only a few days went by and the mom was on the phone telling me what the lemon oil had done to her son’s nose. She was over-excited!
Even though there is not a cure and it is an ongoing problem through several stages in life; Lemon Essential Oil can be of great help to you!
Essential Oils can and do help!
There are many essential oils that can help in the treatment and prevention of acne blemishes. Those include tea tree, lavender, geranium and lemon oils. Use these separately or together, as ingredients in skin tonics, steam treatments or blemish lotions. Essential oils can help acne blemishes clear up faster and not become infected, which can increase scarring. Here are some ways to use essential oils for acne.
Lemon has antiseptic-like properties and contains compounds that have been studied for their effects on immune function. According Jean Valnet, M.D., the vaporized essence of lemon can kill meningococcus bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in one hour, Staphylococcus aureus in two hours, and Pneumococcus bacteria within three hours. Even a 0.2% solution of lemon oil can kill diphtheria bacteria in 20 minutes and inactivate tuberculosis bacteria. Lemon oil has been widely used in skin care to cleanse skin and reduce wrinkles. It promotes clarity of thought and purpose, as well as health, healing, physical energy, and purification. Its fragrance is invigorating, enhancing, and warming. Lemon has been shown to have antidepressant effects in research done by Komori, et al.,1995. It may also help brighten a pale, dull complexion by removing the dead skin cells. It serves as an effective insect repellent and works well in removing gum, wood stain, oil, and grease spots.

Lemon (Citrus limon) has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. Lemon consists of 68 percent dlimonene, a powerful antioxidant. It is delightfully refreshing in water and may be beneficial for the skin. Lemon may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods. Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from the rinds of lemons. Jean Valnet MD estimated that it takes 3,000 lemons to produce one kilo of oil. In his book, The Practice of Aromatherapy, Valnet wrote that lemon is a tonic for supporting the nervous and sympathetic nervous system.* Lemon has an approximate ORAC of 6,619 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.
A Super Happy Teenager:
My 15 year old son who loves to eat – and he loves to eat lots chocolates – came to me with his face broke out in a mess. He said “Mom look in your oil book and see what I can use on my face”. He tried Lemon Oil. He rubbed it straight onto his skin with out any diluting and woke up the next morning with most of the blemishes gone! After two days he has clear skin. Needless to say he keeps that oil in his bathroom now.
*I had to smile when he was packing for a baseball tournament in Disney with his oil in his hand and ask if he could take that with him just in case. It is non expensive and the results are fast.
* When I read Angela’s story I figured the Lemon Essential Oil was worth a try. I whipped out my Lemon Essential Oil and applied it directly to the red, puffy areas of my face and neck, where I always break out during that ‘certain time of the month’. When I got up the next morning I almost forgot about my face because it felt so much better–the redness was almost completely gone and my face didn’t ache! Today–two days later with just two applications of the Lemon Essential Oil my acne breakout is completely eradicated! Needless to say I am a very happy customer! ~Elise Adams
* I have to say thanks for the recommendation for using lemon oil on acne. I’ve been putting it on for 2 nights now and I’ve noticed that not only is the redness going away but my skin feels softer too. It seems as good as a microdermabrasion treatment but way cheaper ~Jennifer Rosbrugh~
