Search tips
- When you search any site you may type in terms such as: Twitter 101, how Twitter works, understanding Twitter, or Twitter basics. You never know how sites tag or categorize their articles so starting with specific terms cuts your search time down.

eHow.com this is a great online community with solutions and tips on everything social media (and life in general). Just type in what you are looking for into the search box. If you learn better by video, eHow offers that too.
MakeUseOf.com this is a daily blog that features cool websites, computer tips, and downloads that make you more productive. It also has a great free download section that includes guides such as the Complete Guide to Twitter.
Glclearnfree.org this site is great if you prefer watching video tutorials. You can also sign up and click through the non-video tutorials on the site.
Dummies.com this site is a spin-off of the best-selling Dummies series of books. It’s a wonderful, easy-to-understand site packed with experts presenting the most complex subjects in plain English. You’ll find 1-2-3 steps to a ton of “how to’s” on social networks and sharing tools on the Web. And when you are done, you can learn hot to bake a perfect ziti or de-flea your dog.
About.com this site helps you easily understand the tools of the online world. It’s one of the few advertorial-based sites that maintains an excellent standard for quality, and speaks in simple language.
Ask.com this site gives you qualified answers online to make searching quick and easy. It functions like a search engine and pulls the best content from around the web on whatever your search may be. It also has a great feature for kids called AskKids to help with homework and research.
Videotutorials.com this site is a collection of free video tutorials with no strings attached. All high quality instructional videos for the upper crust of the tech world. Everything from SEO to content management videos. This is a site for the more sophisticated technology user.
Twitter.com this is an often-overlooked resource where you’ll find everything you need to know about twitter right here. Just go to the “help” section and the information options are broken up easily for you to click and go!
Twittercism.com this site is a great Twitter teacher and is a trusted blog source for Twitter tips, tricks, tweaks, tools and tutorials, as well as news, articles, opinion and rumors. It’s fun.
Facebook.com this is always the best place to start with Facebook questions. Answers are short and easy to understand. If you go to your “Account” setting to the far right of the top of your page, you’ll find “Help Center” in the drop-down menu. Click and you are on your way!
Facebook blog this is a blog loaded with helpful stories, news, and updates.
the Facebook fan page is a wonderful resource for how to do most anything on Facebook—lots of insider tips and tricks. You can find it by clicking on “About” located at the lower bottom right corner of any page.
Twitter help section this area on Twitter’s site is packed with the basics to get you rolling on Twitter. Take the time to read. It’s a must!
YouTube this #1 social networking site is an great learning tool, in fact you can almost go to school here. Just go to the search box on YouTube.com and find our favorite “how to” Twitter videos there: Twitter in Plain English, Getting Started with Twitter, Twitter Lists in a Nutshell, Top Twitter Tools Exposed and Explained, Finding Followers, and How to Tweet from Any Cell Phone. Be warned: quality varies.
Mashable.com is a power-packed site for everything new media including breaking news, mobile updates, commentary, current events and how tos. Just type what you are looking for in the search box. This is also the site you want to go to once you are pretty immersed in social networking and want to stay ahead of the curve. New media, breaking news, commentary is excellent.
