Worship God above all else

 

 

Have you ever thought about how important it is to worship the Lord? You may love the Lord with all your heart, and be very sincere about it. But if you’re not worshipping Him, you’re missing out. 

I recently heard a preacher say, “Only after you worship and praise God, do you have a right to ask God to heal you, or do anything else for you. If you don’t know this, it can cost you your life!”

In Matthew 22:36, a lawyer came to Jesus and asked him, “Which is the greatest commandment in the law?” Jesus answered: “…Thou shalt love the Lord, thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment” (Mat.22: 37-38). 

So what Jesus was saying is that God comes first. We should never place any other gods before Him. God has to be absolutely number one in our lives. And when we worship the Lord, we show that we elevate Him to His rightful position.

Nothing should come before Him; not our church, family, business or money. God is number one in our lives. You are in trouble when anything else takes over first place in your life.

Learn to worship God first. When you do that, you have a right to ask Him for anything. And He’ll give you what you ask for.

This is the exact reason why so many people get into so much trouble: they don’t worship Jesus with everything that is within them. You have to worship God for yourself. Just singing a song or two in church isn’t worship. That doesn’t honour God. Your heart must be focused on Jesus.

You may think that you know God, and have all the power you need, yet still lose out. You may have been a Christian for twenty years and know God really well. But if you turn your heart away from Jesus, and start to worship something else, you’ll lose out and most likely bring trouble on yourself.

The devil cannot attack you when you put first things first. He doesn’t have the power to kill you, if you’ll worship God. 

I know ministers who built big churches, winning 100,000 people to Jesus. But they started to become settled and satisfied. They began relying on their own strength, doing what they thought needed to be done instead of what God told them. They brought huge trouble on themselves. 

I encourage you to do what God wants, not what you want. Worship God and love Him with all your heart, and then ask Him for what you need? He will certainly give you His best when you give your very best to Him. 

Will you choose to worship God above all else?  Now, that’s the choice-driven life!
