Let God’s DNA Change You Forever

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

We’re quickly approaching a new year and the customary New Year’s resolutions that go along with it.  Most of us are well aware of the areas in which we need to improve.   With enthusiasm and determination, we set out to improve ourselves: we want to stop overeating, drinking, or smoking. We make vows to quit swearing or begin exercising.  After a brief period of success, most become frustrated with their slow or non-existent progress and come to realize that they can’t make the desired changes in their own strength.

The desired behaviour changes are forgotten and we find ourselves returning to the same patterns that we so desperately desire to end.   All of our self-effort amounts to nothing and we wonder why we have once again ended up in the same place, with the same outcome.

Maybe you are in this place and are desperate for change in your liFfe; there is only one way to make profound and lasting change.  That is by being born again! You must be saved!

When you are born again, you become a new creation, which means that you receive God’s nature of righteousness. Your spirit, which is the very core of your being, is made pure and completely new, allowing God Himself to reside within. In fact, your spirit is the only part of you where He can live.

When we are born again, the true nature of God is imparted into us; we actually take on God’s DNA.  “And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:24, AMP).

Consider the fact that you and I possess the divine nature of God! When you are a Christian, you have 100% God DNA in you! I am not saying that we are God, however the very moment we are born again, we receive God’s very own DNA into our spirit.

That makes us partakers of everything that He is and everything that He has. And because we have become that new creation, God unites Himself with our spirit. First Corinthians 6:17 tells us, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” How awesome is that? So, the moment we become born again, our spirit man becomes one with God.

Another thing happens when we are saved: our spirit is sealed to preserve our righteousness and to prevent sin from ever entering in (Ephesians 1:13).

The sealing action is likened to the process used when preserving jam: to keep the jam as fresh as possible and keep out all contaminants, the jar must be sealed.  For the same reason, our spirit is sealed with the blood of Jesus.  When we sin after having been born again, our sprit cannot participate, because it has been sealed off and perfected in righteousness forever by the Holy Ghost.

Yet our minds are part of our souls and we still have our old natures to overcome, the ones we had before we were saved.  In order for the new nature of our redeemed spirits to dominate our soulish natures, we must renew our minds daily by meditating on Who God says He is and who God says we are.

It is through our new nature, along with God’s DNA, that we are able to produce a real change in our soul, which will eventually show up in what we think, what we say and what we do.

Will you choose to be conscious of God’s presence within you?  Now, that’s the choice-driven life!
