God’s Ways are Always Better

Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the LORD.
Joyful are those who obey His laws and search for him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths.
Psalm 119: 1 – 3 (NLT)

The Bible tells us that the man who walks in the ways of the Lord is blessed. It is a great benefit and we will prosper in all we do when we walk in the ways of God. On the other hand, we are not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly (Psalm 1:1). When we do that, we compromise our beliefs. What is compromise? One definition is “spiritual erosion.” It is the erosion of good intentions.

No one purposely sets out to compromise in following God’s ways. We desire to live according to the Word of God. But there are those times that, without thinking, we compromise because it is easier for us.

The way of compromise “seems right” and “appears straight, but will always fall short (Proverbs 16:25). Compromise always appears to be acceptable and justifiable. But when we make a choice to compromise, we will almost always end up retreating, quitting, or turning our backs on God’s Word. We need to realize that the way of compromise causes us to lose ground.

In the long run, compromise brings forth undesirable fruit in our lives, opening the door to defeat and destruction. Jesus illustrates in His teachings that to choose the way of compromise is to choose the way of the fool, and to choose the way of faith is to choose the way of the wise. Walking in the ways of God, in faith, is the only way to progress.

The way of faith is always better because it enables us to be steadfast, patient and to endure to the end – cleaving to, trusting in, and relying upon God to see us through whatever we are going through.

We read many times in the Bible that we are to walk by faith and not by sight. The way of faith might seem to be the hard way and sometimes even impossible, but it is the way to victory. Although standing in faith sometimes takes longer, it is God’s way and God’s ways are always best. Walking by faith will have lasting rewards!

Will you choose the way of faith and refuse to compromise? Now, that’s the choice driven life!
