A Wise Man Builds His House On The Rock By Hearing God’s Word And By Putting It Into Practice

What is the solid foundation of a solid marriage? How can your family withstand the storms of life? Why not

build your house on something stable, something that can stand through every test and trial?

“There are lots of things you can do with sand; but do not try building a house on it.” C.S.Lewis

If you don’t have solid beliefs, you cannot build a stable life. Alfred A. Montapert

Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues. Saint Augustine

He will be the sure foundation for your times. A rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge..Isaiah 33:6

It is not the beauty of a building you should look at; it’s the construction of the foundation that will stand the test of time. David Allan Coe

If you’ve got a weak foundation you can’t build anything. Jack Scalia

Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul

Here is the principle that we find from God’s word that a wise man builds his house on the rock by hearing God’s word and by putting it into practice. We cannot just be hearers of the Word and not be doers. If you build your house on the rock like Jesus said as he told His disciples; He compared two people;

1. One who builds his house on sand which basically means that they build their lives on their ways, what they want to do and their ways of thinking and their goals and dreams.
2. The other person builds his or her life on the rock of God’s Word
; they build their life on scripture and on God’s way.

When we look into God’s Word, we see what we are called to do. We see how we are called to live, but when we walk away, we have to put that word into practice.

You know that person that builds their life on the rock; Jesus called them a “Doer Of The Word”, that means that you take the scriptures and apply them to your life. Jesus said “love your neighbor as you love yourself, forgive and God will forgive you, bring the tithe into the storehouse, seek frost the kingdom of God and all these things will be given to you.” When you place God first in your life, you spend time with Him every day.

The Bible talks about continuing in the Word; continuing and building up your inner man and building up your spirit. When we spend time with God on a consistent basis and by meditating on God’s Word, strength is built up that we need to face every day life.

When you build your house on these principles and when you build your life on the resurrection power of Christ you will be firm when a storm hits, because you choose to build your life on a God’s ways. You practically have to take time out on a daily basis to get into God’s Word to read it, to meditate, to pray and to worship God; this will build up strength in you to live a life that pleases God.

When you look in Luke 6 where Jesus said: he who comes to me and hears what I say and does what I say; I will liken him to a wise man that builds his life upon a rock. When the storms came and the floods descended; he who had built his house upon the rock; that house stood firm. He who hears my words, but doesn’t do what I say, I liken him to a foolish man who builds his house upon the sand.

The rains came, storms came, floods came and the house fell and it fell with a great crash. For example: somebody who attends church and listens to the sermon, but don’t get into the word of God themselves, they don’t pray and they don’t seek to do what they are reading. You can a read a bible every day and never act on it.

Jesus said, people who hear the word but never do the word, they are like a foolish man. Somewhere in a period of time, a storm is going to come and when that storm comes and the person who showed up in church maybe now and then to listen to somebody preach, but they themselves never choose to seek God. What happens is that when that storm comes they will fall apart, because they don’t have any strength inside of them to overcome.

When somebody makes a decision to do what they need to do in order to be prepared for whatever is in their future, they are going to be able to stand in the midst of whatever might happen and not fall apart.

The important thing is, whatever we face that we will be able to overcome and go through it and not be blown away by it and not be shaken by it but actually become stronger in the midst of it.

Foundation is revealed during the tough times.

I want to ask you”what is your life built upon?” Is your life built upon circumstances or the opinions of men? Every one of us faces storms in life, will face trouble or trials. We can put our confidence on Jesus and His Word, because His word will never be shaken. We have to make a choice to build our life upon what God’s word says in order to go straight through those storms with God’s grace and His peace and with Victory every single time.

You can be secure on what God promises say. There will always be times that you have to lean on God’s Word and where you need to surrender to God. He told us to be strong and courageous, He told us that He will never leave us nor forsake us regardless what we are going through.

That is a foundation that will outlast any storm, that will give us a foundation that will go far beyond any trouble, that gives us a foundation that will go above any circumstance; that foundation is found in God’s Word. That’s why it is so important that we build our life upon the rock; not just the rock of opinions, not just a rock of our knowledge, our status or our bank account, but the rock on who God is and what He has said in His word.
