88 Fellowship with The Father

Fellowship with The Father

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and
the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV

The Greek word for fellowship, koinonia, means to know someone in the most personal way possible. Do you want to know the Father in that most personal way possible? I am very hungry for that.

I’ve known the Lord since May 15, 1989 and still have a strong longing to get to know Him. That’s good. Remember what the apostle Paul said: [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding [the wonders of His Person] more strongly and more clearly. And that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection (Phil.3:10 AMP).

There is always more to know about God. It is unending!! Furthermore, it will take eternity for Him to exhibit the love that He has for us. It is massive. It is gigantic. It is beyond imagination! God is calling us by name to close companionship, sweet communion, and an intimate relationship and personal friendship with Him. He is calling you and me by name! That is the kind of relationship that HE would like to have with each of us.

Have you ever thought about how to approach the Father? My heart has been yearning for a deeper and a closer relationship with the Him. This deep longing has intensified over the past year. What about you? I am hungry to know the Father in ways that I have never known Him before. My pastor in Tulsa, Billy Joe Daugherty, said many times “in your quest to bring change in your life, you have to do something you have never done before.” So, in our quest to know the Father in a different way, we have to do something different, something that we have never done before.

Sometimes we must break out of a pattern that has turned into religion. It’s necessary to change how you think about something in order to get a different perspective. Just as my pastor said, you need to do something that you have never done before to get a different result.

Instead of focusing on our desire to know the Lord, let’s think about the desire of the Lord to know us. When we look at it from God’s perspective, that changes our focus, doesn’t it? So often we approach God with the mental picture of Him seated on His throne in all His authority. We have our own perspective of what God is all about.

To view the same things from God’s perspective, we must be able to see the passion that He has for us, His hunger for us, His desire for us. He loves to hear our voices in the morning! He wants sweet communion with us. But all too often we shy away form His presence because of our sense of unworthiness. But that is exactly why Jesus died for us – to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, to make us the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. With Jesus’ righteousness covering us, we can approach God’s throne boldly in our time of need.

Let’s make a choice to build our relationship with the Father from a new perspective. Let’s realize that he wants to fellowship with us.
It’s our privilege to go to Him, to love on and to minister to Him, being thankful for everything that He has done for us. As we receive His love, we can know how much He loves us, understand how much He loves to hear our voice in the morning.

Will you make that choice? Now, that’s the choice-driven life!

The Most Important Choice You Can Make:

Prayer for Salvation:

God in Heaven, I come to You in the name of Your Son, Jesus. I confess that I haven’t lived my life for You. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that He died on the cross and rose again from the dead so I might have a better life now and eternal life in heaven. Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. From this day forward, I’ll live my life for You to the best of my ability. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

  1. Wow!! Great article!!! I can really relate to this because the winds of change have definately come my way! God is sweeping and blowing me into people places and things that I never encountered before! Wow! Routines, the same ol’ same ol’, I see can easily( as you mentioned) turn into a religion. God is revealing Himself in ways that He never did before. I wholeheartedly agree that there is always more to know about God. He is a big God!!! It is refreshing to see God in a new way, and He makes all things new. This new atmosphere is a place where He takes you to become even more intimate with Him and a place where you you depend upon Him.

  2. A great, uplifting birthday message. Thank you so much for your time and generosity and faithfulness to Him.
