23 Abundant Life

Abundant Life

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.
I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
John 10:10 ESV

The devil has one thing in mind and one thing only and that is to steal, kill and to destroy; that is the only thing that he has in mind. He will NEVER change his mind either; it is settled for him to destroy your life in any way possible. He will steal everything good that God has in mind for us.

God wants to give us an abundant life; a good life, a life beyond our own understanding. Abundant means “excess, more than enough, bounteous, rich, profuse, extravagant, fully enough, and lavish.” This is the type of life God has planned for every believer and that includes you.

He wants your life to blessed – abundant, prosperous, and successful. He came to give you a real and eternal life, a more and better life than you have ever dreamed of, that you will have everything you ever need and have it in its fullest.

Are you enjoying life? Are you enjoying every facet of life? God wants us to enjoy everything in life. God is the blesser, the giver, and the abundant one. The devil is the thief, the killer, and the destroyer. They are totally different with opposite motives concerning your welfare.

God is for you. The devil is against you. However, since God is for you, the devil can’t stand against you. Jesus came into the world so we would experience the life of God, which is abundant, full and more than enough. He came to the earth to give life to you, not to take it from you.

Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected from the dead so you could live an abundant life. You receive resurrection, or abundant life, when you become born again.

You were not reborn to barely get along. Your heavenly Father does not take pleasure in seeing His children living in poverty. Realize this: God wants you to enjoy His riches in glory right now. He loves you and does not plan failure for you.

Instead, He plans for you to succeed. He plans for you to experience eternal, abundant life now! And this life is always more than enough. Making a decision to enjoy life might be very important for you right now. Life is wasted if we allow ourselves to be upset.

Will you decide today to make a choice to start enjoying every day life? Now, that’s the choice-driven life!

Have you ever had anything stolen from you? Please share with us what you did about it.. will you?

The Most Important Choice You Can Make:

Prayer for Salvation:

God in Heaven, I come to You in the name of Your Son, Jesus. I confess that I haven’t lived my life for You. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that He died on the cross and rose again from the dead so I might have a better life now and eternal life in heaven. Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. From this day forward, I’ll live my life for You to the best of my ability. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

  1. Johan Gropperen says

I have had a lot of things stolen from me, things that I really treasured. I am believing for the sevenfold return!

  2. “Abundant Life” is my word for this week, Olga, so when I saw your post, it was the 1st one I went to read!

My voice was stolen for many years. So I’m beginning to speak, and just trusting God that I’m doing what I felt He asked me to do. Abundant life, to me, is enjoying the simple moments of life. Because so many material things have also been stolen, I treasure being able to use an indoor toilet, a hot shower in a house, a full fridge, a big stove and oven… but not just the “things” but the act of eating with people you love, most of all.

Going shopping with my mom, even though we walk ever so slowly… I treasure every moment with her. Music… the internet… I find myself so grateful for the simple joy of life. To me, that is abundance.

I love God’s heart… He is such a good Father!

  3. Olga, thanks for making me think about the abundant life I have in the Lord. Often times I focus on the things I want or need rather than all God has blessed me with. You ask if I had ever had anything stolen. I think of a Christmas when our daughter (1st child) was just a baby and we were in Sears getting ready to spend the $50 we had available that year for buying gifts for family members. The $50 was in my purse which was the nicest purse I had ever owned… given to me by my husband. The baby was tired so I was lying her down in the shopping cart on a baby quilt so she could rest. Evidently I sat my purse down in the top of the cart & when I turned around to retrieve it, it was gone. I felt so terrible… the purse my husband gave me was gone along with the only money we had to do our Christmas shopping. I felt negligent in not being more cautious. It has been so long, I do not recall what we did about Christmas gifts but I’m sure God provided a nice Christmas anyway. I will never forget the immediate devastation I felt… how could someone steal from a young mother who was distracted taking care of her baby?

  4. When I was in college, I had a car stereo stolen from my truck on Ohio State’s campus. They popped out the lock on the drivers door to get in. THAT was the most frustrating part! Every time for months…for years when I went to get into my truck, I was reminded of the robbery. It was frustration to have that daily reminder…but it was also a daily reminder to forgive. I had to live out that 70×7 type forgiveness every day. I haven’t had that vehicle for years now, but I still think of it on occasion, and am reminded about forgiveness.

You know Olga, I am here through the Christian Blog Group you host on FB and it is interesting that in the past 2 days this is the third post about abundant/full/contented life I have read b/c of that group. I am pretty sure God is trying to deliver a message!

  5. We had a babysitter that stole things from our house. We didn’t realize it at first because they were small items. But that wasn’t enough and she ended up staging a robbery at our house one day while she was babysitting the kids. She told the kids she saw someone outside and made them go in the basement while she rummaged through our house to make it look like someone came in and stole things, then she called the police. They knew right away it didn’t add up and she ended up confessing after a few hours. We did forgive her and didn’t press charges but what bothered me most was that my children were very frightened for quite some time.

    • wow Sue, I can see that your children were frightened for some time. Sorry to hear that, that happened to your children.

  6. So much has been stolen from me that I can no begin to enumerate. But to SHARE just one theft that turned out for the GOOD and brought glory to God and still bringing glory to God. The Holy Spirit and I wrote a ministry manual…how to manual. It was an out of the box manual that dealt with kingdom ministry maintenance and building. First the President of the Bible College took the contents to build his ministry within his church and said he had the right because any project comprised in his college was his property. Then there were other bible colleges, Christian bookstores, ministries, professors, and even the publisher who used the contents without acknowledgment or compensation. Yes, I had legal copyright and it was being violated. I was very angry and wanted to fight for what was being stolen at one time, daily. I then relaxed in the Lord who gave me the manuscript and His voice said, calm down, Evelyn, for I have taken this manual to people and places that would not have been reached otherwise. God used me as an instrument to further His purpose and though it was stolen, it was still valuable. He taught me that those who steal are doing themselves the injustice because stealing blinds the thief from truth. Wrong motives never produce real value. Then the Holy Spirit reminded me that those who obtained the book the correct way, the Godly way, valued and would receive accordingly. God lead me to release the manuscript totally into His hands and let Him handle the distribution however He directed. So, I did just that, released everything to His handling for He had designed the guide in the first place. Since there is nothing lost in Christ, the manual is in the best hands ever. Those who found the treasure within the pages are blessed and those who stole missed the contents or later recognized the value, are ALL accountable to God who judges wisely. Every one answers to God for their decisions and I am not to allow what man does or does not do to keep me from the abundant life that comes as a results of serving Jesus Christ. Once I surrendered ALL to JESUS I have His abundant life …pressed down, shakened together…running over…overflowing daily. Jesus is living within, flowing from me daily, something no one can steal. Daily I live in the finished work of Jesus Christ which can not be stolen but received from Him…it is His Gift to ALL who will come to Him and receive all He has for them. I have God’s abundance always. Shalom
