Choose Life

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death,
blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live:
Deuteronomy 30:19

Just before the children of Israel were to cross the Jordan and enter the Promised Land, Moses called them together and explained their covenant relationship with God. They were given free will to choose and Moses explained the consequences of those choices: a curse was automatic for them if they didn’t hearken to God; blessings were inevitable if they did hear and obey.

The same is true for us today. We have a decision to make, just as Israel did: life or death, blessing or cursing. The Hebrew word translated as hearken means to both listen and obey. We must choose whether or not we will hearken to God’s Word. If we take God at his Word regarding the new birth, then we are born again. If we hearken to God and do as He says for healing, then healing takes place in our lives. If we hearken to His Word regarding prosperity, then we begin to prosper.

In every area, if we will listen to and obey God, we will automatically increase in life and blessings. I don’t know about you, but I choose life. How do we choose life? By deciding “I’m staying with the Word of God. As I hear and obey what God says, I believe it is unavoidable and predetermined that God’s blessings will overtake me. I will have the things I need. In fact, I’ll even have a surplus of prosperity. It is inevitable. It shall come to pass!”

Next, determine to never give up. When you make a choice to walk by faith and not by sight, you can never quit. Isaiah 50:7 provides a beautiful picture of this attitude of determination: “For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore I shall not be confounded; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. “ A flint is a rock or a hard stone that will not bend or crumble. Have you set your face like flint? We must not reach this great moment in the history of the Church, only to draw back in fear! No, this is the time to double up, not give up!

So, we must choose to be faithful when we go through trying circumstances. We must choose to honour God with our mouths as we continue to put the Word into our hearts. Such resolve and determination continually prepare us to accomplish all that God has placed in our hearts to do.

Just as for the children of Israel, the key to our deliverance is to hearken unto God. As we hear and obey the Word of God, and set our face like flint, certain victory and days of heaven on earth will be ours.

Will you choose life and blessings, obedience and determination? Now, that’s the choice-driven life!

The Most Important Choice You Can Make: Prayer for Salvation: God in Heaven, I come to You in the name of Your Son, Jesus. I confess that I haven’t lived my life for You. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that He died on the cross and rose again from the dead so I might have a better life now and eternal life in heaven. Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. From this day forward, I’ll live my life for You to the best of my ability. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen. Click Here if you need more information.
